Development Period Programmes

The LLP gained a development grant from DEFRA following a bidding process in late 2023, as one of 34 projects across England selected in Round 2 of LR.  The Development Period began in April 2024 and will run for 2 years.

During the development period the LLP is undertaking a range of preparatory work for implementing LR:

• A collective dialogue between members to explore common ground and construct a shared foundation for Landscape Recovery in Luppitt.
• Farm-by-farm business advice and support to help members assess their options in considering an LR agreement.
• A field-by-field ecological baseline survey of all members’ land, to record the habitats present and the scope for restoring additional habitat in the future.
• A comprehensive soil baseline survey determining current levels of soil carbon, and key nutrients, so that future change can be measured.
• A detailed assessment of the physical and biological condition of the River Love and its tributary streams.
• A feasibility study into the scope for education and training provision in the Luppitt project area in the future.
• An oral history project exploring individuals’ recollections and experiences of the land in Luppitt and how it has changed.
• Development of a blended finance plan to determine how future implementation of LR in Luppitt will be financed.
